Simple Classic Chicken Soup Recipe

Soothe the soul with chicken soup

This simple classic chicken soup recipe will soothe the soul. It is the ultimate comfort food in our home. This go-to meal comforts each of us during our long Midwest winters. Don’t sniffle in our house unless you want chicken soup.

We all know there are cans of the stuff lined up in the grocery aisle, but a big pot of the real thing cannot be beat. The scents fill the kitchen and even the steam from cooking is healthy for you when faced with the dry winter air. This WebMD article explains some of the common-sense benefits (link). And there was even a scientific study done in 2000 (link) supporting the health benefits of chicken soup (link).

Nourish yourself heart and soul with this simple classic chicken soup recipe with real, nutritious ingredients and a dash of love.

Serve hot and smile.

Save time with these ideas!

If your supermarket offers prepared rotisserie chickens, they are a great way to speed up this meal (and countless others). Instead of cutting and cooking the raw chicken, add the rotisserie chicken meat at the end when adding the noodles. Leftover chicken works great, too!

To speed up the cooking process, skip chopping and adding fresh carrots step. Add a cup and a half of frozen carrots during the step when adding the noodles.

Lastly, though sacrificing some flavor (and nutrition), the step in which you saute the onions, garlic, and celery can be skipped altogether, and omit those ingredients along with the butter or oil will save you 5-10 minutes.
